The Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership’s Annual Meeting was held Jan. 27 at the Jackson Convention Complex. Bruce Jenner, who captivated the world when he broke the world record by scoring 8,634 points in the decathlon at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, spoke to approximately 800 business leaders.
Award-winners included:
Garrett Enterprises in Jackson received Outstanding Business of the Year. This award is given to the metro area business that has gone about and beyond in support of the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership and its programs.
Stony Thomas of Nissan’s Canton manufacturing plant, received the Pat Yarborough Outstanding Volunteer of the Year. This award is given to a person who demonstrates exceptional dedication to community organizations and takes an active part in those organizations’ activities. Their involvement promotes and benefits the entire Greater Jackson region.
Diane Fulgham of Comcast Spotlight, won Ambassador of the Year. Ambassadors volunteer their time to carry out several tasks on behalf of the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership while also representing their own company. Ambassadors vote on who they feel is most deserving of the honor.
Walter Weems, 2009 Chairman of the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership and attorney with Brunini Law Firm, passed the gavel to the 2010 Chairman Dr. Clay Hays, VP of Jackson Heart Foundation.
The Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership is the leading economic and community development organization in Mississippi’s Capital Community. Since its beginning 120 years ago as the Jackson Board of Trade, the organization has played a key role in the growth and development of the economy. The focus of the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership is perhaps best stated by our motto “Advocating Business Growth!”
