Mr. Criss has spent 23 years of his life in media with the last 18 in the field of business newspaper publishing as an editorial and advertising executive. He brings a sharp and experienced eye to Greater Jackson Business magazine!

The 44 year-old is a Jackson, MS native with two children, Katie, 17 and Dagny, 8.

Was founding Publisher of the Metro Business Chronicle, The Mississippi Capitalist and Reflections Magazine, as well as publisher of Meridian’s East Mississippi Business Journal, all business publications based in Jackson.

Has served as Publisher and Owner of the Jackson Business Journal and Forward Mississippi, both business publications based in Jackson.

Was Managing Editor of Delta Business Journal from 2000 to early 2004 and was Managing Editor of Delta Magazine, which he helped get established.

Was Vice President of Development for Coopwood Communications from 2000 to 2004, an advertising/ public relations firm based in Cleveland, MS.

Named 2003 “Copywriter of the Year” ADDY winner by the Mississippi Delta Advertising Federation also winning five other ADDYs for copywriting, advertising production and directing over a three year period.

readyaimrightAuthor of “Ready, Aim, Right!”, a collection of political and philosophical essays and editorials, published by Quail Ridge Press in 2004.

Currently working on the late Mississippi governor, Kirk Fordice, biography entitled “Steel Will”, also to be published by Quail Ridge Press. Criss was authorized by Fordice to write the book and worked closely with the governor before his death.

Is a popular public speaker having addressed classes at the University of Mississippi, Millsaps College, Belhaven College, the Jackson, MS Young Urban Professionals organization and many other Rotary, Exchange and similar civic groups.

Was a named lecturer/faculty member at The Atlas Society 2006 Summer Seminar in Orange, California at Chapman University. Criss delivered two lectures, one of which was “The Joy of Entrepreneurship”. The Atlas Society is a think tank based in Washington, DC.

Is a Board Member, Alum and Mentor for the Mississippi Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training. Criss has run one marathon and two half marathons with the group.

Was a popular afternoon drive-time talk show host with Newstalk 1180 WJNT Radio in Jackson, MS from 1987 to 1992. Has hosted and produced business talk shows since 2004 on WLEZ, EZ 103.7 Radio in Jackson.

Has appeared on Mississippi Public Television’s “Conversations” with Gene Edwards, as well as on television news and interview programs in Greenville, MS, Biloxi, MS and Jackson, MS.
